Our panel of experts will share their experience and expertise giving you what you need to know about the latest and most important developments affecting non-profit organizations in Accounting, Auditing and Tax issues unique to these important entities. In addition, you will learn the important compliance issues raised by the Affordable Care Act (ACA) that impact non-profits as employers.

 

Our panelists, combining the perspectives of non-profit practitioners with that of a representative of FASB, will arm you with the latest regulatory information on GAAP and Tax compliance. You will receive a complete FASB update, including the recently released ASU on Presentation of Financial Statements for NFPs. The panel will also provide a review of the proper Accounting for Contributions and discuss common errors.

On the Tax side, you will receive a complete Tax Update, along with a detailed treatment and update on Unrelated Business Income (UBIT), and the pitfalls that this creates.

 

Finally, hear the latest on NFP governance focusing on financial stewardship responsibilities by non-profit audit committees.

C. Clinton Davis JR, is with the law firm of Krage & Janvey, LLP in downtown Dallas.  He graduated cum laude from the SMU Dedman School of Law in 1980 and first in his graduating class from Northwestern State University of Louisiana in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.  He was first licensed in Florida as an attorney in 1980 and then in Texas in 1982.  He has been a licensed CPA in Texas since 1980.  He has been Board Certified in Tax Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 1988.  He has been named as a Super Lawyer, a Top Attorney in Texas by Texas Monthly, one of the Best Lawyers in Dallas by D Magazine and a Top Rated Lawyer by the Dallas Morning News, all in the tax area. 

Clint has in the past been an author and discussion leader for numerous CPE courses for the Texas Society of CPAs. Clint also speaks before various bar associations and accounting conferences. and is a frequent presenter and moderator on the Accountants’ Continuing Professional Education Network.

Clint primarily represents high net worth individuals and closely held businesses with much of his time devoted to real estate tax planning, implementation of S corporation ESOPs, mergers and acquisitions and private foundations.

 


Michael Bertaut Related Seminars and Products


Michael Bertaut is a Certified Health Consultant and Professional of the Academy of Healthcare Management.  He has 25 years of Analytical Experience in the Healthcare, Telecom, and Retail Sectors.  In 2007 his collaboration on a Position Paper; “Doctor Populations in Post-Katrina New Orleans” was honored with a Lantern Award, the highest honor given by the Southern Public Relations Federation. In May of 2010, he was asked to join the editorial board of the Healthcare Journal of Baton Rouge.  In September of 2010 he was invited as a keynote speaker to the International Medical Tourism Conference in Los Angeles. He now sits on the Advisory Board of the National Healthcare Reform Conference and Magazine. Michael is a financial modeler and forecaster, responsible for predicting membership activity for over 1 million Louisianans who are members of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana. Since April of 2009 Michael has engaged in over 500 public discussions on Healthcare Costs and the Impact of Healthcare Reform with stakeholder groups ranging from healthcare policy makers in Washington to your local public service clubs. Michael earned his MBA and BA from Louisiana State University and just celebrated his 30th year as a cancer survivor.  He’s been married to the very patient Marla for 26 years and they have three children. Michael is currently employed as Healthcare Economist and Exchange Coordinator for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana.

 


Richard A. Cole, CPA Related Seminars and Products


Richard A. Cole, CPA, is a Supervising Project Manager at the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB).  In that role, he provides oversight to projects involving not-for-profit organizations (NFPs), consults on other projects affecting NFPs (e.g., Leases), and participates in some of the FASB’s broader outreach activities.  He is the Supervising Project Manager on the FASB’s current Financial Statements of Not-for-Profit Entities project and also provides staff support for the FASB’s Not-for-Profit Advisory Committee.Prior to joining the FASB, Mr. Cole was the Vice President and Controller at the American Museum of Natural History in New York, where he worked for over seven years. Before that Rick was a senior manager with KPMG LLP, where he worked for over fourteen years and specialized in audits of higher education institutions and other NFPs. 


John Alfonso, CPA Related Seminars and Products


John Alfonso, CPA, is a partner in CohnReznick’s Not-for-Profit Industry Practice and is based in New York City. He has more than 25 years of experience providing audit, accounting, tax, and consulting services to not-for-profit organizations. These include professional associations, educational institutions, public and private foundations, religious organizations, governmental entities, and social service agencies. John also directs the audit work for many of his clients’ retirement plans and for other defined benefit, health and welfare, 401(k), and 403(b) plans. Prior to joining CohnReznick in 2002, John was an audit partner at a large national public accounting firm where he specialized in serving not-for-profit organizations. He is licensed to practice public accounting in New York and New Jersey.

Pamela Alexanderson, CPA Related Seminars and Products


Pamela Alexanderson, CPA, is a Senior Manager with Moss Adams, LLP, in its Albuquerque, New Mexico office. There, Pam is the leader of tax services for exempt organizations in the Central Region and is a highly rated, frequent speaker on tax-exempt issues. Prior to joining Moss Adams, Pam served as a senior individual contributor at a large Fortune 500 company. Pam has practiced public accounting since 2008. She serves as a trusted tax advisor for not-for-profit entities, businesses, and individuals and has worked with educational institutions, charitable organizations, foundations, and donors. She also has considerable experience in tax compliance and consulting with a focus on large multi-national organizations and health care providers.

She helps clients maintain their tax-exempt status by informing them of changes in the law that may affect their organizations and helping them manage unique situations. Pam is a highly rated, frequent speaker on tax-exempt issues. Pam is an integral part of the training programs both internally and externally. She continues to share her knowledge through seminars, teleconferences, webcasts, and roundtable trainings.
